Ivalo is the biggest village and administrative center of the municipality of Inari. From Ivalo you will find the best services in Northern Lapland. From Ivalo you will find: the health care center, pharmacy office, grocery stores, clothing shops, building equipment, electronic devices, car service, schools, etc. While travelling towards north you should stop in Ivalo to refill your food and equipment storage. Ivalo river runs through the village in Ivalo and ends up in Lake Inari after 10km in the village of Koppelo. Ivalo river is a popular destination for canoeing and kayaking because its colorful gold history and rugged sceneries. You can start your journey to lake Inari from Koppelo or Veskoniemi with your own boat.
In Ivalo there are many fabulous beaches. The most reachable of the beaches is situated in the center of Ivalo, close to the health care center.
In winter time there are skiing tracks, skating tracks, snowmobile tracks, and husky tracks on the ice of the Ivalo river. Besides there in the spring time there are many people on the ice going ice-fishing or riding a horse, for example. In the middle of winter there is also a possibility for ice-swimming in Ivalo River. (ask from Hotel Ivalo)

Ivalo Lutheran Church is the main Church of the municipality of Inari.
Ivalo Lutheran Church is the main Church of the municipality of Inari. It is located in the center of the Ivalo village, on the riverbank of the Ivalo River. The Church is the visible part of the street scene, because of the unusual architecture. Church is not open to the public.
Ivalo Church was built in 1966 and was renovated in 1999. The church was designed by Senior Architect Kauko Kokko and Architect Laura Järvi-Larkas. Ivalo Church
Is founded on 7 March 1881. The surface area of the church is the biggest in Finland, 17 000 square kilometers. The Inari parish is focused on children’s day care, scouts, youth and family work and diaconia. Inari parish has four churches and chapels:
Ivalo St. Nicholas Church is located in the center of Ivalo village.
Ivalo orthodox St. Nicholas Church is located in the center of Ivalo village. Built in 1960. It was a small Chapel until year 1994. At the time, after renovation, it was consecrated as a church. St. Nicholas day is on 6 December.
Orthodox Church of Lapland covers almost whole Lapland. Main Church is in Rovaniemi. In Inari municipality most of parishioner are Skolt Sámi. Churchs and Chapel are built there where the people are:
Keväjärvi Chapel is located about 10 kilometers to the east of the Ivalo village.
Keväjärvi is located about 10 kilometers to the east of the Ivalo village. In year 2008 there were built in a small chapel to ecumenical use. Chapel was build with volunteers and collection of funds. Organizer “Koltta-asiain kannatusyhdistys” donated chapel to the Orthodox Church of Lapland on August 2009. St. Boris and Gleb day is on 24 of July.
Nellim Church is located in a small Skolt Sámi village of Nellim, near the borderline of Russian.
Nellim orthodox Church is located in a small Skolt Sámi village of Nellim, near the borderline of Russian. Church is very beatiful wooden church, which is built like oldest part of the Petsamo old Monestary. Nellim Church is consecrated to St. Trifon Petsamolainen and Holy Trinity day.
