Inari Day

After on hour car transportation over the mountains, thrue the Ivalojoki valley, arrival to the Inari village, located next to Lake Inari, the third largest lake in Finland.
The frozen lake with its 3300 islands is quite a magical site in itself. Before getting started with the snowmobiles you will get thermal equipment and safety driving instructions from your guide.
If you don’t wish to drive the sowmobile yourself you can sit in a sleigh. You start your adventure driving across ice, snow and wintery forest until you get to the ice fishing spot.
Your guide will explain you how to do the fishing preparations. Then you pick your spot, drill a hole in the ice, choose a rod and let your lure sink in the icy water.
After that you just sit calmly, lift the rod every now and then to attract the fish, listen to the silence around you and admire the scenery.
Naturally there’s also the anticipation of catching a fish but it is only one part of the concept! After fishing it is time to warm up by the fire while your guide serves you a nice traditional soup lunch and hot drinks.
Then the journey continues back to Inari where you still have one more memorable experience waiting – a independent visit to the Nature Center and Sámi museum and NorthernLapland Visitor centre, Siida.
In Siida you will learn about the fascinating culture of the Sámi, the only indigenous people in the European Union area and about the eight seasons of Lappish nature.
